From L to R: Kathryn Timmerman (Key Title), Quan Cosby (UT Longhorns), Jennifer Goodman (GoodLife Luxury), Kevin Stokes (GoodLife Luxury)
Last week our partners at Key Title invited us to the 10th Annual Celebration Luncheon celebrating the children’s programs and services provided by SafePlace. SafePlace provides safety for individuals and families affected by sexual and domestic violence.
Quan Cosby delivered his keynote focused on “possibility” - meaning that he was the face of potential, action and possibility. We talked afterward. He was gracious and shared that this was the first time he had spoken publicly about the childhood he and his brother faced at the hands of their abuser. When we eventually parted, it occurred to me that his spirit is captured by Nelson Mandela’s quote “It is not where you start but how high you aim that matters for success.” Quan Cosby embodies focused action in the pursuit of success - from being the 2nd person in his family to go to college, his Longhorn and NFL football careers, to the work he does today both publicly and privately - we can all learn to aim higher.
Thank you SafePlace. The event raised over $337,000. Please click here if you would like to donate. SafePlace has a waiting list of 100+ women, children and men wanting a better life. Together we can aim to create an Austin where children and adults live free from domestic violence.
